Dr Arayomi's Surgery - uses Modern General Practice model

Dr Arayomi's Surgery is one of the first surgeries in Basildon to transition to a Modern General Practice model. We are now using Accurx as our digital platform for booking appointments, requesting prescriptions, sick notes, referral updates, and more.

Update: Meningitis Outbreak in the Canterbury Area

UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has confirmed 13 cases of invasive meningococcal disease in the Canterbury area, with two people sadly having died[gov.uk]

Who should take action now?

UKHSA advises anyone who visited Club Chemistry on 5, 6 or 7 March to come forward for preventative antibiotics, even if you feel well.

A patient helpline, run by UKHSA is now available

Patients can call 0344 225 3861 Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm if they have no symptoms but are concerned they have been in contact with a confirmed case or have a general enquiry.


Symptoms to look out for

Meningococcal disease can progress very quickly. Seek urgent medical help if you notice:

  • rash that does not fade under pressure
  • Sudden high fever
  • Severe headache
  • Stiff neck
  • Vomiting or diarrhoea
  • Cold hands/feet
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Confusion, extreme sleepiness, or seizures

If you’re worried or feel unwell

  • Call NHS 111 for advice
  • Contact your GP
  • If symptoms appear, call 999 or go to A&E immediately
